| Location: Pleasant Grove,UT, Member Since: May 01, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: Marathon Finish Running Accomplishments: Have only run in 5K races. Running my first 10K, 10 mile and 1/2 marathon this summer. Short-Term Running Goals: Registered for the St. George and New York marathons. Lottery results are in May and June. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Long-Term Running Goals: Want to be a runner forever. Hope to set a good example for my two daughters. Personal: I am married and have two little girls. I work from home as a writer and editor. It is my dream job and allows me to be home with my girls all day. Before having my girls, I taught fitness and yoga classes. I started running when my first daughter was about six months old.

| On treadmill. This run was hard; my legs were tired and I had to take a few 1 minute walk breaks, which is not usual. I also don't like to do more than a 3-mile run on the treadmill. It just seems to drag, even with music or tv. |

| Wanted to finish in under an hour. Almost made it, but slowed on the sixth mile -- felt really sick to my stomach. I think I may have prevented it with a little more water intake before the race. |

On the treadmill again but think I found the key to surviving: speedwork (Yasso 800s) + music (not TV!!). It went a lot faster than when I watch TV, and I was more focused on what I was doing and how I felt. |

I can finally see that I am improving. It was a great run, especially considering two of the three miles were in a pretty steady rainstorm and I ran eight miles yesterday. I haven't checked my history to know for sure, but I am pretty sure it was my fastest three mile run to date. |
